We are ordering our wedding invitations and having them designed by Doug at the Paper Market in Kennett Square. Not only does he have an amazing store, but some really creative ideas on how we can make our wedding invitations unique. After one meeting with him, we were sold! If you haven't been by to visit him, it's worth a trip.

The Proposal - She Said

All I did was get out of the shower…. It was the day before thanksgiving and Mike and I had decided to take the day off from work and relax. Since we have very different meanings of relax, we spent the better part of the morning cleaning up the house. At around noon, Mike asked if I would like to go to lunch. As I can never resist a free meal, I hopped in the shower to get ready. As I was taking my sweet time, I got several “hurry ups” and “let’s get moving.” I was unaware that there was any rush to go out to lunch so I ignored him. Finally he was offering to help me get ready. My clean jeans were down in the laundry room so I yelled down for him to bring them up. As he handed them over, I noticed they felt a little heavier than normal. As I put the first leg on I felt something in the pocket. As I pulled it out, Mike dropped to one knee in perfect unison with my jaw and my pants……. Well of course I said yes and proceeded to get dressed in a fluster. The reason for the rush was that Mike had scheduled a limo to pick us up and take us to Krazy Kats, one of our first real dinner date spots. Overall, I have to say the events of that day couldn’t have gone any better.

The Proposal - He Said

It definitely could’ve gone better, since it wasn’t at all what I envisioned. The idea was to have the limo driver knock at the door, Rose to answer, and then as she turned in utter confusion…to kneel and propose. Rose has several of her facts messed up. First, I asked about going to lunch the night before since we were taking off work before Thanksgiving. I also specifically said we could go to Cosi around 1 o’clock since that was one of her newly discovered favorites at the time. Unfortunately for me, simple picking up of the house turned into a Clorox involved fall cleansing. Luckily she got hungry and began the preparation for departure. Time was dwindling though and the Limo driver would arrive any second. He arrived right as Rose was getting out of the shower so I had to think on my toes. When Rose wanted her jeans from downstairs, I took the opportunity to drop the ring in her pocket and propose to her with her hair up in a towel turban and one leg in and one leg out of her jeans. It wasn’t exactly as planned, but at least I succeeded in surprising her.

Mike is insisting on keeping the title of our website "The event of the millennium." If you know him, then enough said. If you're just getting to know the groom-to-be, get use to the hyperbole speech. In all seriousness, we are looking forward to an amazing wedding with our friends and family.

We couldn't be happier to start planning the wedding. We've picked the venue and will be having both the ceremony and the reception at Greenville Country Club. It has that intimate feel we were going for and a historical charm that only an old DuPont mansion could provide.

We've also selected Laura Novak as our photographer. She's amazing and I think her work speaks for itself.

Other than those two things, the planning has come to a stand still. Once I finally get inspired by something again, I am sure the wheels will start turning and I'll come up with an idea for a theme. In the interim, I am open to suggestions.
